Homemade Dog Food
I’m keeping Ollie healthy and fit with this easy homemade recipe. Mixed with kibble, it gives him all the nutrients he needs. It’s cheaper than Nom Nom, and I suspect healthier. The recipe makes 11 half pound servings. I store servings in small sealable containers, and give him ½ container per day.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Cook rice according to instructions (generally 3 cups water to 1½ cups uncooked rice)
- Heat oil in a large stockpot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add ground turkey and cook until browned. Make sure to crumble the turkey as it cooks.
- Cube the carrots and zucchini. If your dog prefers, shred them. Add this mixture to the ground turkey and cook about 10 minutes to soften them
- Stir in spinach and rice. Cook another 3 to 5 minutes
- Let cool, then add one pound each to small containers.
Chocolate Sauce
I just found this recipe, and it’s great. Makes about a pint of chocolate sauce.
